Ways to Finance Dental Costs

Financing Dental Work: What You Should Know

Scott General Dentistry

In a perfect world, your insurance plan would cover all the costs of your dental care. Unfortunately, that isn't always the case––cosmetic treatments are rarely covered by dental insurance companies and even procedures that have functional benefits as well, like dental implants and Invisalign, usually have to be paid out-of-pocket. What do you do when you need dental care, but you can't afford to pay for it? These are some of the most common solutions for financing dental work.

Low or Zero Interest Credit Cards

At Bella Dental, we accept payments made with Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Some patients even apply for a credit card with low or zero percent interest rates for the sole purpose of using them for their dental procedure. Keep in mind that these interest rates are typically only good for an introductory period, so this financing option works best if you have the means to pay off the credit card before that period of time has elapsed.

Loans

Ask your bank or credit union about the possibility of taking out a personal line of credit or loan to pay for your dental work. A loan officer will discuss your options with you and help you decide which one is right for your unique situation.

We don't recommend using payday loan providers, which charge exorbitant interest rates, or online lenders that advertise dental loans for patients with bad credit. These lenders are often predatory, charging unreasonable fees and interest rates.

Use FSA or HSA Funds

Even if your dental insurance plan doesn't cover the cost of dental implants or Invisalign, you can use funds from your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for these and other treatments.

CareCredit®

We've partnered with CareCredit to offer our patients financing for dental procedures not covered by insurance. CareCredit is offered by a trusted lender, Synchrony Financial, and it’s been helping patients pay for needed medical and dental treatments for over 30 years. Patients appreciate their options for no interest financing and low minimum monthly payments that fit into any budget. CareCredit’s online application process is simple, with instant approval so you know right away whether or not you qualify for financing and how much of your procedure cost will be covered.

CareCredit is a credit card that is accepted by over 200,000 providers in the United States. You may apply for it when you need dental care, but once you have your card, you can use it for other health and wellness needs too––even veterinary care for your pets.
